LEO SURPASSES CENTURY OF GOALS WITH ARGENTINA

Leo Messi signed off the latest international window by registering a new milestone. The Argentine attacker hit a hat-trick against Curaçao to surpass the 100-goal mark and bring his tally in Argentina colours to 102 goals.

Lionel Scaloni’s side ran out 7-0 winners over the Caribbean outfit at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades in Santiago del Estero, with Leo completing the full 90 minutes. Nicolás González, Enzo Fernández, Di María and Montiel were also on target.

ARGENTINA MEET CURAÇAO AS LEO GOES IN SEARCH OF CENUTRY OF NATIONAL-TEAM GOALS

Argentina face their second outing of the international break on Tuesday, when they will take on this Curaçao at the Estadio Único in the Argentine city of Santiago del Estero. It will be the first time that the three-time world champions meet the Caribbean outfit, who are currently ranked 86th in the FIFA ranking.
This match presents Leo with the chance to hit another milestone, with his goal tally for the national team currently standing at 99.

Leo will look back particularly fondly on this season, which has so far yielded the World Cup crown with Argentina, the Best FIFA Men’s Player award and seen him claim a number of individual records. He brought up a new milestone by scoring the 800th goal of his professional career in the friendly meeting against Panama – Lionel Scaloni side’s first outing since they claimed Argentina’s third World Cup crown.
Leo reaches the 800-goal milestone aged 35 years and 276 days and has averaged 0.79 goals per game across his 1,016 career appearances. The first goal of his professional career came in the 2004/05 season (on 1 May 2005 against Albacete). Leo struck ten goals in the following season and since that 2005/06 campaign, the Argentine has always reached double figures in the goal stakes. His most prolific season was the 2011/12 campaign, with 89 goals and so far this season, he has already surpassed his tally in his maiden season at Paris Saint-Germain, with 24 goals.
During the course of his career, he has twice netted two five-goal hauls (one with Barcelona and another with Argentina), six four-goal salvos, 48 hat-tricks and 153 braces.

LEO NOTCHES 800th CARRER GOAL AS ARGENTINA TOAST WORLD CUP TRIUMPH WITH WIN

Leo Messi chalked up the 800th goal of his career in Argentina’s victory against Panama in a friendly that will be remembered for the celebrations dedicated to the world champions.

Argentina ran out 2-0 winners at the Estadio Monumental on a night dominated by tributes to the members of the World Cup-winning squad that secured the South Americans' third world crown in Qatar as players and fans united in celebration.

After having twice seen free kicks come back off the woodwork, Leo fired home in the 89th minute to round off a historic night. At the end of the game, Leo raised the World Cup Trophy and again dedicated the triumph to the Argentine fans.

LEO & ARGENTINA DON THIRD STAR FOR FIRST TIME IN PANAMA CLASH

Argentina are in action on Thursday for the first time since lifting the 2022 World Cup crown in Qatar. Lionel Scaloni's team take on Panama at the Estadio Más Monumental Stadium, with the game to be dominated by World Cup celebrations. The encounter will also mark the first time Leo has donned the Albiceleste shirt with three stars in honour of the nation’s three world title triumphs.

It will be the third meeting between Argentina and Panama, with the Argentines having prevailed in both previous games. The South Americans won 3-1 in a friendly in 2009, before easing to a 5-0 win in 2016 in a Copa América clash.
Leo will come up against the Central Americans for the first time after bagging a hat-trick in less than half an hour in the sides’ 2016 meeting.
