Leo scored a brace on Saturday to guide Inter Miami to a 3–1 win over Atlanta. The Argentine found the net in the 54th and 60th minutes of the match played in Georgia, bringing his tally to 25 goals and 13 assists in 28 MLS appearances this season.

Inter Miami won 2–0 this Wednesday against NYC, in a match where Leo provided the assist for Las Garzas’ second goal. With this assist, Leo now has 13 this year in MLS, along with 23 goals in 26 matches played.

Leo returned to action with Inter Miami this Saturday, delivering a brace against DC United just days after bidding farewell to the Argentina national team. With this 4–0 victory, the Florida side remains in second place in the standings. Leo, for his part, continues as MLS’s top scorer with 23 goals in 25 matches, along with 12 assists.

Leo played his final game for Argentina on Tuesday at the Monumental, a friendly against Benin in which he scored once and provided two assists. The Argentine star’s farewell ended with a 3–0 win for Argentina and an emotional send-off in Buenos Aires.

Over more than two decades, Leo made 208 appearances for the national team, wearing the number 19 in his early years and the number 10 during his prime, while also serving as captain. The Messi Cup will return to Miami from October 25 to November 1, 2026, taking another major step forward after the success of its inaugural edition and doubling, for this second edition, the number of participating teams—from eight to sixteen U-16 sides.

The second edition will feature Inter Miami CF, Ajax, Inter Milan, Atlético de Madrid, Benfica, FC Barcelona, Palmeiras, Arsenal, Newell’s Old Boys, Flamengo, UE Cornellà, Manchester City, Boca Juniors, River Plate, Independiente del Valle, and Chelsea.

Several of the footballers who took part in the 2025 Messi Cup have already had the chance to play matches with their clubs’ first teams, highlighting the level of young talent present in the tournament.
