Leo Messi took to his Instagram account to send the following message to all of his followers after he tested positive for COVID-19: “Good afternoon! As you know, I’ve had COVID and wanted to thank you for all of the messages I’ve received and let you know that although it took me longer than I expected to feel fine again, I’ve nearly recovered and I can’t wait to get back out on the pitch. I’ve been training over the last few days to make sure I’m at 100%. We have some special challenges ahead of us this year and I hope that we can see each other again very soon. Thanks!

LEO AGAIN AMONGST BEST FIFA MEN’S PLAYER FINALISTS

Leo Messi has been announced as a finalist for The Best FIFA Men’s Player, which world football’s governing body bestows on the most outstanding player of the year. The PSG attacker is one of the three players in the running to secure the accolade. The awards ceremony will be held on 17 January. Leo previously claimed the distinction in 2019.
LEO’S ACHIEVEMENTS IN 2021

Leo Messi enjoyed a year that saw him receive a number of awards, both individual and collective.
He captained Argentina to Copa América glory as the Albiceleste lifted the trophy for the first time in 28 years. In the individual stakes, he was crowned Player of the Tournament and topped the competition’s scoring charts.
In terms of his achievements at club level, he called time on his spell at FC Barcelona by winning the Pichichi Award for the 2020/21 LaLiga season and capturing the Copa del Rey, claiming the Man of the Match award in the showpiece.
Following his move to PSG, he landed the silver and gold awards at the 2021 Premios Olimpia in recognition of his status as the best Argentine footballer and athlete of the year. He then capped off 2021 in style by securing his seventh Ballon d’Or.
