Leo played his final game for Argentina on Tuesday at the Monumental, a friendly against Benin in which he scored once and provided two assists. The Argentine star’s farewell ended with a 3–0 win for Argentina and an emotional send-off in Buenos Aires.
Over more than two decades, Leo made 208 appearances for the national team, wearing the number 19 in his early years and the number 10 during his prime, while also serving as captain. His journey with the Albiceleste closes with 126 goals, 71 assists and six official titles, including a World Cup, a Finalissima and two Copa América trophies.
