Fifteen years on from his last visit, Leo Messi will this Saturday take to the Estadio Ramón de Carranza to face Cádiz in the sides' LaLiga fixture.

 

On this day in 2009, Leo Messi received his maiden Ballon d'Or, an accolade that recognised him as the greatest footballer in the world. Leo is the only player to have claimed the award on six occasions.

 

Leo Messi dedicated his goal against Osasuna to Diego Armando Maradona. After netting the Azulgranas' fourth goal in the 4-0 triumph, the Barcelona captain revealed a Newell’s Old Boys' shirt featuring Maradona's number 10 and gestured towards the sky. Meanwhile, Leo posted a message on social media that read: "So long, Diego".

 

Barcelona are in LaLiga action on Sunday, when they play host to Osasuna. During the course of his career, Leo Messi has found the net 24 times in 20 outings against Los Rojillos.

 

Leo Messi took to social media to share his condolences following the passing of Diego Armando Maradona: "A very sad day for all Argentines and for football. He may have left us but he hasn't gone, because Diego is eternal. I can look back on all the special moments I shared with him and want to take the opportunity to send my condolences to all of his family and friends. RIP".

 

This Saturday's meeting with Atlético Madrid saw Leo Messi clock up his 800th appearance in Barcelona colours since making his debut back in 2003: 742 competitive outings and 58 friendlies.
