Argentina captain Leo Messi spoke to the media following the team’s Río de La Plata Superclásico triumph over Uruguay and had the following to say: “We did really well out there and I think that our performance levels are greatly improved. We’re getting used to dominating possession. Today’s was a tough game and we had to get the win. Everything worked out brilliantly…. Experiences like these are ever more enjoyable. The bond between the team and the fans helped us.”

Leo Messi sat down with France Football in an interview in which he reflected on his arrival at Paris Saint-Germain and Argentina’s Copa América triumph. On his move to Paris, he commented that: “I had other options, but we soon reached an agreement. It virtually all happened overnight. I made the right decision. I was convinced by the project here, the players at the club and the quality within the squad… all of those things helped us to reach the agreement”. Meanwhile, he referred to lifting the Copa América crown as Albiceleste captain as “like getting a monkey off our back”. “It would have felt strange had I got to the end of my career without lifting a trophy with my country. It was the one piece of silverware that was missing”, he declared.
